ONE LAST SHOT AT LOVE

Jake James

Door ajar as he enters. She is on the floor, headphones on, playing Warrior Women.

She heard the depression in his voice as he begged for another chance.

It’s 9:47 P.M. the exact time their first and last date ended.

“I love you,” he says.

You're creepy, she told him, nothing like your dating profile. It's one rejection too many.

Gun in hand.  Her then him, he thinks as his fingers grasp the trigger: “Together forever.”

Suddenly a burning pain in his chest. He falls.

“Not tonight creep.”

Jake lives in a Valley, but not THAT Valley. He'd really like a paid writing gig - just give him a <ahem> shot.
